Girl Scouts Honor Local Women of Distinction

Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council will honor six local women at a luncheon event on April 15, 2010 at their 5th annual Women of Distinction luncheon. This year's luncheon will be held at the Hilton Charlotte Center City.

Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council selected the 2010 honorees from those applications submitted in the early fall of 2009. A lifetime achievement recipient was chosen as well as women in four specific achievement areas that are integral components of the Girl Scout program, both nationally and locally. A Young Woman of Distinction will also be honored. She has earned the highest award in Girl Scouting, The Gold Award, in the past ten years and made a significant impact on her community.

Lifetime Achievement - Betty Chafin Rash Achievement in Community Building & Social Capital - Dr. Nini Bautista Achievement in Environmental Leadership - Ruth Shaw Achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering & Math - Dr. Cindy Moss Achievement in Sports, Health & Fitness - Vicki Hamilton Young Woman of Distinction - Amber Koonce
