It's Girl Scout Cookie Time

Support the largest girl-run business in the world

01.03.2014

Charlotte, N.C. - What can a girl do? A world of good! It's Girl Scout cookie time and girls can't wait to show you how they run their own cookie business. Girl Scouts of Hornets' Nest Council (GSHNC) are accepting pre-orders now for your favorite cookies while learning important business skills. Cookies are $4 and will be available only until March 15th.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-run business in the world and it empowers girls with the strength, abilities and drive they'll need to become accomplished women who benefit themselves, their family and the world. By participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls are presented opportunities to learn goal-setting, decision-making, money-management, people skills and business ethics. Additionally, they help earn their own way for activities and service projects they choose to do for the year. All Girl Scout Cookie Program proceeds stay in our local community.

Girl Scouts of Hornets' Nest Council are currently offering customers a premium selection Girl Scout cookies including Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Savannah Smiles, Dulce de Leche and Thank You Berry Munch. After February 15th, only our most popular six cookie varieties will be available, so order your Dulce de Leche and Thank You Berry Munch cookies while supplies last. Also beginning February 15th you will be able to find Girl Scout Cookie Program booths at you favorite retail locations by downloading the Cookie Locator app for free on your mobile phone. Just plug in your zip code and find a cookie booth near you!

"We are excited to kick off another season of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and see our girls develop in courage, confidence and character," said Katherine Lambert, executive vice president of GSHNC. "Not only are Girl Scouts learning important business skills, they are giving back to the community through our Cookies For the Troops program. This is possible only with the help of our amazing volunteers and the support of this great community we live in."

Over the past 12 years, GSHNC has sent packages of cookies, as a taste of home, to those serving in the military through our Cookies For The Troops program. To date, customer donations have purchased more than 356,000 boxes of cookies for men and women in uniform serving overseas. Those who do not wish to purchase cookies for their own consumption still can assist Girl Scouts by making a purchase and donating to the Cookies For The Troops campaign. Ask any Girl Scout or learn more on our website www.hngirlscouts.org.

In addition, there's still time to be a Girl Scout this year. Girls wishing to join are welcome and can also participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. For information about joining, go to www.hngirlscouts.org or call 704-731-6500.
